...And here's more from Salzburg

This is a picture of Berchtesgaden which is about a half hour northwest of Salzburg in Germany. At the top of the mountain there is a place called the Crow's Nest, this was supposedly one of Hitler's retreat spots. The small picture in the corner has the flower lined balconies which I saw all over the southern part of Germany into Austria.

I stopped by a garden, close to the river that flows through the city, the name of the garden is Mirabella...the Sound of Music guide said there are 30,000 flowers planted...I didn't take the time to count.

Okay I have to get at least one more Sound of Music tidbit in. This mountain is called Unterberc (I think)..it translates to Under the mountain. Well this is the mountain in the last scene of the movie when the VonTrapp's climb over into Switzerland...I hate to disillusion you but Switzerland is not on the other side of this mountain, Germany is..the Switzerland border is about 3 hours east of here. That's okay I still loved the ending and was singing along with the VonTrapp's.

And finally there was the ride home...I was in Wurzburg, on a bridge, about 120 miles away from Frankfurt for over an hour, it was a parking lot, but I called my mom, figured out my next trip plans, cleaned the car...if you look closely you might notice the road kill that I collected throughout the return trip...it's the autobahn's fault. All in all it was a great trip.
