Arena Linderhof was Ludwig's hunting lodge...ah yes that small chalet one could get away to when the other two got to be overwhelming. Linderhof is located about 30 minutes away from the other two castles , set back in the the hills.

Me

This picture is kinda hard to see but I thought that I would give it a shot. Behind the castle there is a grotto I'm not sure if it was all man-made or ??? I could only figure out a little about it since the tour was in German...and we can all guess how good my German is. Inside there is a large pool of water, what you see in the picture and across the way it was arranged so there was a balcony carved from the rocks and a place to to put chairs. Behind the boat there was a place to put an ochestra. I think buidling the grotto had something to do with Wagner. I had never seen anything like it before...it was defintely a place where some serious woowing occured.

Linderhof was very nice, it wasn't as big as the other two palaces but it would do. The inside was pretty ornate, not surprising. The picture on the right was taken in the Hall of Mirrors, his palaces a had a bit of French influence. Unfortunately the inside pictures didn't show up that well. The one on the left is from the King's Bedroom...this bed was huge exactly what you would expect for a king. He also had a great view onto his garden and fountains.
